Lancaster is a small city, but small is beautiful. It’s situated on the coast, and it’s surrounded by wonderful countryside –the Lake District to the North West and the Yorkshire Dales to the East. The city itself is home to various manufacturing industries, two universities and a teaching hospital. There is a lively cultural scene including sports centres, theatres, cinemas , many pubs and all sorts of live music. Lancaster has a long history and you can visit the Castle, the Maritime Museum, and the Judges’ Lodgings, to get a flavour of its past.

We can take you to a traditional pub, or to the Lancaster Brewery which is just next door, which is very convenient, where you can try all the different beers that they have. Or we can take you to a hotel or tea-room for a cream tea.

If you would like to see a bigger city, then Manchester and Liverpool are both just one hour away, and they have various attractions there – museums, art galleries – and of course in Manchester you can also visit the Old Trafford stadium and megastore, home to Manchester United, or in Liverpool, you can visit the ‘Beatles Experience’. So when the classroom lessons are over, there is a wide variety of trips and activities for you to choose from for the cultural visits programme.
